Load test
The Load test streams the highest quality video of the chosen cameras to the OADM server, more and more cameras at once, and measures lost packets, lost and late frames, the rate and the jitter of every camera. Like AXIS Installation Verifier, without recording.
Check your cameras
Section titled “Check your cameras”- Open Load test in the navigation rail and choose the cameras with Choose cameras: all devices, tags, or single cameras. The page shows how many cameras, how long the check takes and the expected rate.
- Click Start and confirm. Up to 50 cameras stream at once; more cameras run one group after the other. One check takes at most 1,000 cameras.
- Each group runs five steps of 2 minutes: 25 %, 50 %, 75 % and all of its cameras, then all of them in Low light. The graphs grow every second.
- Read the result: the cards show the cameras checked, the peak rate, the worst loss and the headroom (the last step without a problem), the table one row per camera with the result of each step, worst first. Click a row for that camera’s own graphs.
A camera passes a step when it loses less than 1 % of its packets and frames and less than 1 % of its frames come late. A camera that does not start within 10 seconds or stops sending for 5 seconds is Interrupted for that step.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- In Low light OADM sets the exposure of each camera to its maximum, like the dark of night: the image gets brighter and noisier, and the rate goes up. Your VMS records this image during the step. OADM writes the exposure back after the step, when you cancel, when a camera drops out and when the plugin stops. If a camera does not take its value back, the result says which camera and which value to set by hand.
- Nothing else on the cameras changes.
- Only one check runs at a time on the server. Cancel stops it and keeps what was measured.
- The last 5 checks are kept. Open one from the run list, or delete it.
- For cameras OADM reaches directly, the video comes over UDP: open UDP ports 50000 to 50799 towards the OADM server if a firewall sits in between. The Windows service opens them in its own firewall while a check runs. If UDP is blocked, the camera streams over TCP and its row says that packet loss is not measured.
- Cameras at sites stream over TCP through the site node: packet loss is not measured there, missing and late frames are.
